LThe hotel “ERMIONION” is one of the few monuments of urban architecture in the city. The building was constructed in 1931 – 32, after a study and an architectural design for hotel use, by the engineer Max Rubens. The project began with the order and funding of the owners of the plot and the company Petros and Elias, sons of Konstantinos Vamvakas. From an architectural point of view, it is an eclectic typical building of the period 1920 – 1930 with influences perhaps from Thessaloniki or abroad, according to the electronic archive of listed buildings and settlements of the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, which was created and put into operation recently.
The history of the building is intertwined with the history of Kozani for more than half a century and inextricably linked to important economic, political and social events. The hotel served business representatives, civil servants, passing travelers and city travelers. Nikis Square, the central square of the city in which the building dominates, is the pulsating heart of Kozani not only in the political but also in the cultural sector.
